THE VALUE OF THE HOME a permanent artwork to reiterate the intrinsic value of the home.
The idea for this project was born from the unwavering dedication of the artist Alessandro Ferri, a.k.a. Dado, to Venice. His desire to create a piece that truly captures the city’s intrinsic value led to the concept of a sky-earth mural on three sides of a building located in Calle de le Boseghe on the island of Sacca Fisola, in front of the Giudecca Canal.
Day after day, the idea of the project materializes thanks to the incessant work of the curator Lidia Furlan; to the courageous commitment of the Arch. Stefania Spiazzi in supporting it; to ATER (Territorial Company for Residential Construction in the Province of Venice) for providing the space, without which the idea would have no way to become. The constant encouragement and maximum participation in the project by one of the collectors most fond of the artist, the entrepreneur Carlotta Minarelli, and the entire community, who gave the dream strength to become a reality.
The wall of the building that overlooks the Giudecca Canal (Northside) has a third of its space coloured with golden paint (= the upper part, the ridge of the building, as seen from afar).
The lower part of the same wall, visible instead by those who enjoy the mural closely, provides at human height a rift that welcomes a typical lagoon skyline: an expanse of blue-green lagoon water and possibly a few paline (* paline is Venetian for a mooring pole used in the lagoon) to break the horizon.
The gold paint is applied with a technique that follows the classic brushed finish, evoking the typical processing of the Venetian gold leaf. This meticulous technique adds a layer of depth and richness to the mural, enhancing its visual appeal and artistic value.
In some places, the design provides for tears on the walls, tears that are functional to guide the user in an imaginary undressing operation of the building, an undressing that will reveal its value.
The remaining surface of the north-facing wall is monochromatic, treated with sage green color, as in origin. The East and West-facing walls are painted similarly, giving continuity to the lines painted on the main wall.
The Artwork in its entirety consists of:
- No. 4 folders containing the four series of sketches (1/1) relating to the evolution of the artist’s thinking, all accompanied by the certificate of authenticity;
- No.4 catalogues, dated, numbered, and signed by the artist, who recognizes in writing the commitment of the individual supporter in the realization of the public and permanent Artwork in Venice;
- The realization of the artwork on the designated wall.
